Formtech International Corporation is dedicated to providing safe, secure, cost effective and ecologically responsible insulated concrete forms, an alternative to conventional building systems within an environment that places a high value on corporate, personal and fiscal responsibility.
Formtech was the first company to patent a stay-in-place, collapsible insulated concrete form building system for use in residential, commercial and industrial applications. The blocks are unique in that they ship flat, substantially reducing shipping costs while offering the versatility of multiple-width cavity sizes, with strength attributed to the use of certified resins in both EPS and plastic components. With multiple international manufacturing locations, including several that have purchased technology rights, the company has established a global reach.
History
Formtech was founded in 1996 as a private corporation by product innovator and president Frank Bentley. The company is headquartered in Ontario, Canada, with global manufacturing facilities through its affiliation with SCA and licensed technology holders.
The product was first revealed to the public at the National Association of Home Builders show in Dallas, Texas in early 1998, where prototype product samples were displayed. The simplicity of the one-panel, variable-cavity design proved to be a popular concept, and from the reception at that show the company decided its best strategy was to pursue the American market.
In 2001, Formtech designed and introduced a reversible tread panel and molded EPS corner block. Reversible panels have a superior interlock with no top or bottom, meaning less waste and increased product versatility. Reversible corners work either left or right and are recognized as being among the strongest corner systems on the market.
Aside from opening traditional markets in the United States and Canada, the company has pursued international markets and joint ventures. That list includes Grand Cayman, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Chile, the Middle East, the Dominican Republic and China.
